One Easter, at around age four or five, she opened a Barbie Easter egg and found heart-shaped pink buttons inside. She handed them to her grandmother and said, “These are for my wedding dress.”
Years later, in a gesture that left Sarah speechless, her grandmother pulled out those very buttons, preserved for decades, and had them sewn onto her wedding dress, just two weeks before the big day. Though her grandmother no longer sews professionally, she was right by Sarah’s side helping her choose the perfect gown.
“She’s the reason I fell in love with fashion,” Sarah says. “She always took pride in how she dressed. She made me want to express myself through style.”
